• Tourism Whistler Letter of Support

Norman Laube (Chairperson), Reid Carter (Vice Chair & Sponsorship Lead) Black Tusk Nordic Events Society

Dear Mr. Laube and Mr Carter,

On behalf of Tourism Whistler, I would like to express the organization’s support of the following events scheduled to be hosted by Whistler Olympic Park and produced by the Black Tusk Nordic Events Society in 2022 and 2023:

    • The Continental Cup Ski Jump-Nordic Combined (March 2022)
    • The Canadian National XC, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Championships (March 2022)
    • The FIS Nordic Junior / U23 World Ski Championships (January /February 2023)

As Host Mountain Resort of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Whistler has a history and passion for supporting athletes and celebrating competition. Our community enjoys many legacies from hosting the Games, including the Whistler Olympic Park, which offers a unique and diverse Nordic experience just south of Whistler Village in the picturesque Callaghan Valley. These events provide an opportunity to celebrate our Olympic legacies and continue to utilize the venues for their world class potential.

Post-pandemic, the return of international travel and sporting events are important parts of tourism recovery. Welcoming athletes, families, and their supporters from around the world will aid in rebuilding international tourism as these events have pre-committed dates and attendees which provide stable and reliable visitation and economic activity for Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky communities.

Tourism Whistler will support these events where appropriate for the organization, including assistance with accommodation bookings through Whistler.com, the official central reservations for the resort, marketing support with the development of promotional material and communications, and coordination of banquet/meeting space at the Whistler Conference Centre, pending availability.

Thank you for your consideration. My team and I are happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Barrett Fisher

    President & CEO Tourism Whistler
